Makin’ Music: A Music Theory App for Kids

The whole idea of this exploration was to maximize what a music educational app could be for children. I come from an extremely musical family, I took music classes from six to fourteen years old, so I made this with the intention to empathize with a young audience while keeping parents in mind.

Through the process of developing this UX/UI interface, the lessons, the illustration style, etc, I used various research methods to inform my design decisions. So here is my finalized presentation to express my findings as well as my baselines for this exploration.
Preliminary Research
Before I came to a solution for the work above I gave myself time for a period of exploring kids’ toys as well as music education apps in general before honing in on kids’ music theory. I always start with research and mood boards to give me visual ideas.
